FULL-DAY ADVENTURE

A thrilling day of heli-skiing in Idaho's wilderness offers the ultimate adventure!

Join us for a full day of helicopter skiing and riding in the majestic Idaho backcountry. A full day of heli skiing and riding includes 6 runs per person.  Each run typically ranges from approximately 1,000 to 3,000 vertical feet of legendary Idaho powder. We provide our guests with state of the art Mammut S avalanche transceivers and Mammut avalanche airbags.  Lunch is included and is usually served in the field in a sunny and wind protected area.  A daily safety briefing is provided to our guests to familiarize them with our helicopter, terrain, equipment and other protocols.  Our terrain accommodates intermediate and expert skiers and riders.

FULL-DAY HELI SKIING & RIDING ITINERARY

Please be sure to give yourself plenty of time for stretching to ensure a great day of heli skiing and riding. Please make sure you have all the proper gear and equipment before leaving your accommodation. We strongly recommend that you speak with our staff about your equipment to be sure that you have the proper gear for backcountry skiing and riding no later than the day before your first heliski and riding day.

You will need to attend a safety briefing prior to flying with us. Attending this briefing is mandatory for all guests. We typically hold the briefing on the morning of the fly day at 8 am at our headquarters at the Sun Valley Gun Club. On some occasions, we may pre-brief groups in advance. SVHS also requires that you sign a Waiver and Release prior to your fly day. We encourage you to read this important document prior to your briefing. It is available in the footer on the bottom of this page under “Waiver and Release”

  • On the morning of your fly day, you must participate in a brief Zoom call with a SVHS staff member and your fellow guests. The call will last approximately 10 minutes and generally covers the plan for the day, the weather and other related matters.

  • 8:00 AM is our typical starting time, unless you are otherwise advised by our staff on the Zoom call. Sun Valley Heli Ski Headquarters is located at The Sun Valley Gun Club at 301 Trail Creek Road, at the end of Trail Creek Road in Sun Valley. It is imperative that you arrive on time with all of your gear as late arrivals can delay the entire group of skiers and riders.

  • Upon arrival, all guests will be greeted by a SVHS staff member and then weighed. Once all the weights have been taken and people have organized thier gear, the guests will break into smaller groups for a safety briefing. This includes how to operate around a helicopter, how to use the avalanche safety equipment provided, how to ski in the backcountry and other related matters.

The first group of skiers and riders will depart in the helicopter from the Gun Club at approximately 9:30, subject to weather and other matters. The other groups will either depart from the Gun Club or take one of our Heli Ski Vans or their personal vehicles to one of our various staging areas. Groups are then individually flown into the backcountry to start their ski and riding day.

  • Guests will enjoy a Mid-Mountain Lunch part way through their ski and riding day.  This will usually occur after the third or fourth run.  Following that, guests continue skiing and ridingOnce guests have completed the 6 runs that are included in their package, they will be flown back to one of our staging areas or to SVHS’s Headquarters.  Weather and time permitting, guests will also have the option to continue skiing and riding for an extra $150 per run per person.

  • Return from skiing and ridingLots of smiles and High 5’s! The actual return time will vary based upon the logistics of the day.

ALL TIMES ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE BASED ON WEATHER AND OTHER LOGISTICAL MATTERS

  • It is very important that you remain in contact with our staff and be on the morning Zoom call for arrival times and locations or weather or other delays. Your staging area and times will be provided in this fashion.

  • Sun Valley Heli Ski strongly recommends that all guests carry Trip Cancellation Insurance, Trip Interruption Insurance, Medical Insurance, and Emergency Evacuation Insurance. These insurance types safeguard you against unforeseen mishaps that can occur before or during your heli vacation with us.
