The turn of the New Year is a moment for reflection. One where you can make lists of accomplishments and take a moment to dream up goals big and small for the year to come. We honored the losses in our community and reminisced on the magic we’ve shared in these mountains. Our group discussions often circled back on how grateful we are for the breadth of collective knowledge among our crew that we get to bring to each day in our wild and ever-changing office. Bringing you into the mountains is a privilege we do not take lightly!

It’s 7 am and the coffee is hot! You’re about to go heli-skiing!!! Last night’s storm tucked our central Idaho mountains under a big fluffy white blanket. Skies are clear and you remember a time, decades ago, when you enjoyed your very first powder day with little more than skinny skis and an ear-to-ear grin. Equipment has advanced significantly since then but the goal remains the same… to have the best day in the mountains!

It's also a time when weather experts share models and projections for the season to come. We often hear the words El Niño and La Niña thrown around but what do these patterns mean?

In the ski industry, there is no more important ranking than the annual one Ski Magazine puts out, and in that ranking, there is no higher honor than Best Resort North America. Idaho’s Sun Valley has won that lofty title the last three years running (2021-2023, the 2024 awards should be announced soon).

What a start to the season it has been!  We hardly had any snow at mid and lower elevations in mid-December. Then, a series of snow cycles, starting on December 11th, arrived. This has left us with extensive snowpack throughout our expansive terrain.
